CHRISTMAS AT HEARST CASTLE - Hearst Castle 6 miles north of Cambria
At Christmas time, The Assembly Room, The Refectory, and the Morning Room all contain lavish decorations of hand made garlands, brilliant red poinsettias, and two 18 foot Christmas trees, fully decorated with lights and traditional ornaments. PIEDRAS BLANCAS LIGHTHOUSE - 9:45 am
From SEPT. 1-JUNE14th tours are offered Tuesday, Thursday, & Saturday. From June 15 - August 31st. tours are offered Monday through Saturday. No reservations needed for groups less than 10 people. No tours offered on federal holidays (Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, etc.) $10 adults, $5 ages 6-17, no fee for ages 5 and under. Tours last about 2 hours and include a 1/2 mile of easy walking. Visitors meet at 9:45 a.m. at the former Piedras Blancas Motel located 1.5 miles north of the light station on Highway 1. Do not wait at the gate to the light station! Wheelchairs and strollers are available upon request. No pets. Tours may be cancelled due to inclement weather. Special Guest Speaker in the Parlor will be noted author, Catherine Ryan Hyde! Social begins at 5:30 with hors-d'oeuvres and beverages. Historical Society members attend free, with $10 guest fee for the public applicable to an annual membership. The venue is small and intimate, so attendance is limited and reservations are required. Catherine is a long time Cambrian, whose best selling novel Pay it Forward in 1999 projected her onto the national and international scene, with 37 more novels published and forthcoming. Soon to be released are Just After Midnight and Have, You Seen Luis Velez? She is the founder and president (2000-2009) of the Pay it Forward Foundation, which continues to be a major benefactor in the world.

FOREST LOOP WALKS - 10 am-Noon
Walk the Forest Loop Trail of the Fiscalini Ranch Preserve with a docent. Enjoy our Monterey Pine forest as we learn about the plants, animals, human history and the trails in this special part of Cambria. The walk is about 2.5 miles long with very little elevation gain. Bring water, shoes that protect the toes, and wear long pants to help protect from poison oak. Children welcome with adult supervision. Walks start at Tipton entrance to ranch.
