New Tour of Hearst Castle® Offered for a Limited Time - 100 Hearst Castle Rd.
CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND RECREATION
New Tour of Hearst Castle® Offered for a Limited Time
Areas Closed Off for Years May Be Seen on New “Designing the Dream” Tour
From June First through Labor Day weekend 2013, Hearst Castle will be offering the public a new tour option that gives visitors the opportunity to see parts of the castle that have been closed off from view in recent years.
“We are a mission driven organization that prides itself on providing high-quality interpretation to the public, said Nick Franco, Superintendent of the San Luis Obispo Coast District. “And the new Designing the Dream tour will provide a more robust interpretive experience with a fully guided 75 minute tour that showcases the extraordinary story of the design and nearly three-decade long evolution of this hilltop estate that is proudly preserved and interpreted by California State Parks.”
The “Designing the Dream” tour will have a capacity of 15 people, and will feature live interpretation of the Neptune and Roman Pools; Guest house “Casa del Sol”; the North Wing of Casa Grande; and the Dressing Rooms at the indoor Roman Pool.
At the conclusion of the tour visitors are able to stroll the gardens and terraces at their leisure and enjoy the views of the surrounding coast and mountains just as Mr. Hearst’s guests did during the Castle’s heyday.
The cost of the new tour is $30 per adult and $15 per child 5-12 years old. Children under 5 are free. The large format film, “Building the Dream,” is included in the price and is shown at the Hearst Castle Visitor Center Theater with showtimes beginning at 8:15 daily.
Reservations can be made through www.hearstcastle.com or by calling 1-800-444-4445. Phone:

Sponsored jointly by the Joslyn Center and the center's Lawn Bowls Club, the fundraiser is an outdoor show of original art that will financially benefit both sponsors. Artwork will be hung on the fences surrounding the green, with visitors strongly discouraged from walking on the green.
